EVERY child needs an assessment to receive services. Our assessment is extremely comprehensive and gives you a clear picture of where your child is at. We always provide a written report that uses GOAL ATTAINMENT SCALING (GAS).
Our evaluations are evidenced based that way we can measure your child's progress. It is child and family-focused with functional outcomes relating to occupations.
This helps you understand exactly what we are working on and towards with your child.
Treatment sessions range from 45-60 minutes and work on your child's needs.

Intensity, frequency, and duration are the main factors responsible for changing how the nervous system responds to sensory information. Increasing these factors, including adhering to a home program such as a daily therapeutic listening program and sensory-rich play, leads to faster results. We often see adaptive responses in our first session – it is impossible to know how long this process will take, but our general estimate is between 6 months to two years. At Kinetic Kids Occupational Therapy, PLLC, we generally make functional therapeutic goals for six months.
The earlier we start to intervene, the better the results will be. Brain neuroplasticity is accessible at every age, and changes can always be made. There are high levels of co-morbidity with SPD, and research shows that about 75% of children with ASD have significant symptoms of SPD, and 60% of children with ADHD also have symptoms of SPD (Kinnealey et al., 1998 & Ahn et al., 2004). Many factors, including co-morbidities, environment, expectations, and a child’s innate strengths, affect how their SPD looks over time.
No one knows the answer, but it is 100% not something you did or didn’t do. New research suggests a genetic component, which is likely genetic and environmental. Non-vaginal birth experiences are often associated with reflex retention, which exacerbates sensory challenges.
